A FREE CONFERENCE ON FUTURE CITIES AND TRANSPORTATION POLICY

On May 29th 2015, KTH Royal Institute of Technology will host CITYMOVES – a free conference on future cities and transportation policy. The CITYMOVES conference convenes transportation leaders, researchers and practitioners to discuss key trends in city development and the challenges for future transportation policy.
Results from the futurist research project Post Car(d) Urbanism from KTH will be presented. The research project has crowdsourced 400 city transportation experts to define key trends for future city transportation. Three distinct scenarios have been identified by advanced land use modelling and image visualisation constructed three “postcards from the future” that will be presented on the conference..
A keynote speech on the radical current changes in city transport policy in the US will be held to give international policy background. Panel discussions with Swedish experts and political leaders will handle implications for Swedish cities. In the afternoon Stockholm Municipal Transportation Agency staff and local partners will host walkshops that take their peers on tours of local projects, including recently completed streets, cycle tracks, and public places.
